July 29

Cailin thinks it's hilarious to watch people eat. I guess she thinks the way we move our mouths is funny. She's laughing at her Grandma, who is now only pretending to eat just to get some laughs.

In the next video, you might think that she is crying but no...it's her new thing. She likes to scream and squeal all day long for no apparent reason. I think she's taking after Magnolia and getting ready for her American Idol audition.

July 20

Cailin is getting really good and sitting all by herself. She is still a little wobbly and will usually fall over if she turns her head too fast but she can sit and play with her toys without much support. She is really responding to her name well also. For the most part, if you call her name she'll turn toward you, unless something really good is on TV and she can't be bothered : )

I will sometimes pour all of her toys out of her toybox and just let her go to town. It will entertain her for a while but she prefers if I come and play with her. If she knows that I am sitting behind her, every few seconds without turning her head, she will reach down to feel if my legs are still there and then continue playing. If I've moved, then she will spin around to see where I've gone.

I like to surround her with stuffed animals sometimes. She loves choosing which one she wants to play with, or just stick in her mouth and they provide a soft barrier for her uncertain sitting abilities.

She really loves her stuffed lion and gets a huge grin on her face whenever I put it in front of her. She'll give him hugs and smooches, and of course a little taste of whatever she had eaten before. Having the boppy behind really helps her not to hurt her head on our hard floors when she falls backward.

Although Cailin is a very observant baby and definitely isn't the most vocal baby most of the time, at home she lets go a little more. Here she is just talking to herself while she plays in her jumpy.

She is getting really close to crawling. I expect it should happen any day now. You can tell she is thinking long and hard about what she is supposed to do but can't quite make her arms and legs move together. For now though, she has mastered the army crawl on her belly and can move forward for the most part if there is a toy she's really motivated to go after.

Port Aransas Trip

Cailin had a blast on her first trip to the beach. The seaweed and jelly fish were bad this year so we didn't spend a lot of time in the ocean but she got to go and stick her feet in the water and in the sand. She seemed to love it and was all smiles, of coarse. Most of our time was spent at the awesome pool at the hotel.

She is getting closer and closer to crawling. Mostly she turns in circles on her belly and moves backward. As soon as she can figure out how to move forward, she'll be off!

Then we went to the beach and got in the water for the first time! We all had so much fun we didn't want to leave.

Cailin got to visit with her Great Grandma this past weekend while Mama & Daddy celebrated their anniversary. Her Nana, Poopah, and great aunts Linda and Carol also came over for a visit.

Cailin has been practicing standing a lot lately. She has gotten to where she can hold herself up if we put her hands on the coffee table. She just doesn't realize that she'll fall if she lets go and just knows that Mama will be there to catch her.

Cailin, Maggie, and Hudson had their playdate again last week and got to have lunch with all the girls from Lexicon. Cailin kept trying to smooch Magnolia though. I think she gets tired of slobbering on her own face all the time and thought she would try someone else's.

But they had fun rolling on the floor together

She likes to help me cook sometimes so I gave her a spatula to chew on

She got tired of playing in her playpen while I cooked so I brought her in the kitchen with me. She was so happy to sit there and watch me or the TV and chew on spoons or whatever else I gave her.

We went to visit our friends Morgan and Chris this weekend so Cailin had a chance to see them again, it had been a while. Hopefully they'll give Cailin someone to play with soon, wink wink. :)

Cailin will have a new playmate when she gets older since we've added another member to our family. Toby is an Australian Kelpie we rescued from a shelter. He's already become best friends with Bailey and Cailin enjoys trying to grab them when they walk by and they enjoy licking the spitup off her shirt or directly out of her mouth, mmmmm.

Cailin got to have her first playdate with her boyfriend Hudson last week. Her, Maggie and Hudson went to Mindy's neighborhood pool and played. They all had a lot of fun and wore themselves out. Hudson wanted so bad to play in the jumperoo and couldn't understand why he wasn't allowed to.

Cailin's Nana and Poopah came to visit on Sunday to celebrate Jeff's first Father's Day. Cailin was all giggles and had a lot to tell Nana apparently.

Later in the day, after Daddy finished golfing, we all went and played at our neighborhood pool, then enjoyed playing with Nana's new puppy and cooking on the grill. Cailin got to spend some good quality time with her Daddy and got lots of smooches.

Those cheeks are irresistable!

Monday, Cailin had her 6 month checkup at the doctor, even though she's almost 8 months now (Mama a procrastinator : ) ) She is 15 lbs and 25 inches long! The doctor said that she is definitely teething and her first little chompers should be popping through any time now. I guess her cute, toothless grin will soon be gone forever. She's setting up better and better each week and scoots around on her belly so crawling won't be too far behind now.
